Software as a service provider

TIES Student Information, Finance and Human Resources and Payroll school management software applications are hosted at TIES and implemented in a software as a service (SaaS) format over the Internet. While similar to application service provider (ASP) models, SaaS differs mainly in its pricing structure, which eliminates the need for districts to buy licenses.

With its annual user fee structure, SaaS offers the lowest capital investment with the greatest degree of technology sophistication. This cost-effective solution provides economies of scale and frees districts from the financial and physical burdens of installing, maintaining and monitoring software on their own servers.

Hosted data and applications

Hosted data and application management and feature updating by TIES eliminates the need to put patches and downloads on a district's individual computers.

Complete security and threat protection

TIES worry-free security infrastructure includes complete threat protection across all of the major attack modes.

Guaranteed continuity of service and data integrity

TIES offers guaranteed continuity of service. TIES is the only solution that offers a 1-gigabyte channel, state-of-the-art Microsoft SQL server database software running on Unisys ES-7600 servers and .NET architecture. The uniform environment of TIES SaaS solution ensures absolute data integrity.

TIES Data Center is constructed with specific redundant power, cooling, network and security requirements, including:

  • Dual power sources with short-term power in the form of uninterruptable power supply (UPS) with batteries and long-term power in a Data Center-dedicated backup generator.
  • Multiple cooling units to dissipate the heat generated by the servers, storage and other devices.
  • Dual network connectivity to the servers, which serves two purposes:
    >  In the event of network connection failure, the second connection can still provide the information to the school, parents and students who are accessing the servers.
    >  Connectivity to duplicate servers in a remote-site Disaster Recovery Data Center, which would continue to provide information in the case of a facility failure, power outage, overheating or server, storage or other equipment failure.

Full access flexibility

TIES SaaS solution gives districts the ability to set access down to the individual user level.

Unlimited storage

TIES offers unlimited data storage capacity with daily backup.

Superior support

TIES SaaS solution includes unlimited support that extends beyond remote to in-district assistance, all included in the annual fee.
